Group and private instruction in Sea Kayaking and SUP. Beginner or advanced, we offer instruction for all levels.
Our long-term students benefit from a coach who will learn their strengths and weaknesses and develop a custom training program for each student to reach his goals.
Want to explore the New England coastline, but not too sure where to start? Our expert guides will help plan your trip, organize your group and make sure you’re safe on the water.
For those looking to measure themselves or set a goal for developing their skills, we offer American Canoe Association (ACA) paddling skills assessments and instructor certifications.
Think of us like you would a golf pro or tennis coach. Our job is to help you get the most out of your sea kayak or paddleboard experience by teaching you new skills, refining the skills you already have and challenging you to push your personal limits.
Many of our clients own their own equipment, but if you’re new to the sport or just not ready to buy your own equipment yet, we can arrange rental equipment – including kayak, paddle, spray skirt and PFD – in conjunction with our classes and trips. We have a limited supply of specialized equipment, such as dry suits for cold water paddling. Let us know what you need and we can arrange to get you on the water.
Sorry. We don’t rent equipment for personal use outside of our classes, but we can refer you to one of our partners for your rental needs.
Our classes and trips are arranged to go where the conditions are best for skills of the group and the objective of the class. We might paddle Boston’s North Shore or head down to Rhode Island, but our home is in Cohasset on Boston’s South Shore.
Some of our favorite locations include Hingham Bay, Nantasket Beach, Little Harbor in Cohasset, the North River in Scituate and – of course – beautiful Cohasset Harbor itself.
In 2021 we’ve been pretty busy with private instruction and instructor training for several local area paddlling groups, so we haven’t been listing as many classes or trips as we have in years past. But from time to time we’re still holding public classes or trips, so keep in touch if you’re interested in attending one of our classes.
Open Group Classes and Trips will be listed under “Events” on our Facebook page, so make sure to “Like” our page to stay informed on the latest trips and events.
We are happy to arrange private, semi-private or small group classes or trips on your schedule. Just pop us an email and let us know what you’re looking for.
Follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to keep up with what we’re doing!
We require a minimum of 2 registered customers in order to run a scheduled group trip. If we need to cancel a trip due to lack of participation, we will provide a minimum of 48 hours advanced notification and refund any payments in full.

He has spent most of his 17 years at CRCK running the Instruction & Guiding Program as the Director of Outdoor Programming.

Scott started kayaking in order to explore Boston’s outer harbor islands. A gift from his wife of an Aquaterra kayak and a copy of Derek Hutchinson’s Guide to Sea Kayaking provided him a means to explore the islands and started a 20 year passion for kayaking. Eventually, his preference for solo paddling required him to master ocean paddling skills that could only be learned from New England’s top coaches.
Today, Scott is a BCU 4 Star Sea Leader and an ACA certified Level 4 Open Water Kayak Instructor whose passion is now helping others discover the skills of ocean kayaking.
Nate has been kayaking since he was 8 years old and instructing since 2007. He loves to be in a boat, no matter the circumstances, but spends his free time in surf whenever possible. When there’s no surf, he is probably sailing or mountain biking. He is experienced with teaching academic subjects as well, and is particularly interested in theory of learning, pedagogy, and body mechanics. He teaches for that moment when a student has a realization that opens up a whole new set of possibilities in whatever discipline of kayaking they want to pursue.
Nate is an ACA certified Level 3 Coastal Kayak Instructor.
